A catalogue or thc macroalgac from the Italian coast of thc Adriatic Sea 15 prcscnted. It is bascd on a criticai nomenclatural and taxonomic revision or previous rccords l'rom that region. Thc list contains 642 taxa belonging to the Rhodophyta (381), the Phacophyta (140) and thc Chlorophyta (121) of which 556 are at speciric level and 86 are infraspceific (9 subspeeies, 65 varictics, 12 forms). Morcover 6 Incertae sedis, 115 taxa inquirenda (38 Rhodophyta, 23 Phacophyta, 54 Chlorophyta), 16 taxa excludenda (12 Rhodophyta, 2 Phaeophyta, 2 Chlorophyta) and 75 nomina nuda (33 Rhodophyta, 13 Phaeophyta, 29 Chlorophyta) are Iisted separately. Thc catalogue is completed by 8 floristic lists, one per each geographic region into which the studied area was subdivided.
