Editorial Policies
1. Peer Review Process
Flora Mediterranea follows a single-blind peer review process.
Submissions are evaluated by at least two independent experts in the field.
The Editors make final decisions based on reviewers’ recommendations.
2. Authorship & Originality
Manuscripts must be original work and not under consideration elsewhere.
All authors must have significantly contributed to the research and approved the final version.
Plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submissions will result in rejection.
3. Ethical Guidelines
Research involving plants from protected areas must include permits and comply with CBD/Nagoya Protocol regulations.
For taxonomic studies, voucher specimens must be deposited in public herbaria.
Conflicts of interest must be declared.
4. Open Access & Copyright
Flora Mediterranea is open access; articles are freely available under a CC-BY 4.0 license.
Authors retain copyright but grant the journal first publication rights.
No Article Processing Charges (APCs) are required.
5. Corrections & Retractions
Errors post-publication may be corrected via errata or corrigenda.
Serious ethical breaches may lead to retraction, following COPE guidelines.
6. Publication Frequency
The journal publishes annually in December. Single articles are published online as soon as they have completed the review and proofreading process before being gathered into the print edition.
7. Indexing & Archiving
Flora Mediterranea is indexed in Scopus, DOAJ.
All issues are archived via the Fonudation Pro Herbario Mediterraneo Publishing website ( https://herbmedit.org).
Flora Mediterranea is permanently archived in multiple trusted repositories, with complete coverage from its first issue onward at the following libraries:
- Central National Library of Florence, Italy;
- Central National Library of Rome, Italy;
- Central Regional Library of Sicily, Palermo, Italy;
- Municipal Library of the city of Palermo, Italy.
