The third contribution to the vascular flora of the Sevastopol area (the Crimea)
The third contribution to the vascular flora of the Sevastopol area (the Crimea)
Floristics, new records, biogeography, vascular flora, Crimean Peninsula.
This paper summarises data on the flora of Sevastopol area (Crimean Peninsula) accumulated between 2015 and 2026. The paper presents records of 104 new plant species identified within the area, including three confirmations of historical records from literature. Of these, 69 species are classified as native, while 35 are alien plants at various stages of naturalisation. Within this list, four species were reported for the first time in Eastern Europe when discovered (Gelasia villosa, Lomelosia brachiata, L. divaricata, and Aegilops peregrina), and a further nine species were new records for the Crimean Peninsula (Buglossoides incrassata, Iris halophila, Ludwigia brevipes, Chloris virgata, Polypogon maritimus, Potamogeton sarmaticus, Ranunculus circinatus, Sicyos angulatus, and Thinopyrum acutum). Consequently, the flora of the Sevastopol area now comprises 1,745 species of vascular plants (excluding literature records not supported by herbarium specimens or recent photographic evidence).
