This work reports an up-to-date list of all the species of macrofungi known in Liguria: they amount to 1521 (1385 Basidiomycota and 136 Ascomycota). Details about distribution and ecology are given for cach species. A brief statistical discussion on the collected data is also provided. Although, this check list has been compiled by exploiting information recorded through the last thirty years, the acquaintance with the Ligurian macrofungi flora is far from being exhaustive because a large part of the regional territory is still unexplored from a mycological point of view. Therefore, this work represents a starting point for further studies aimed at carrying out both a ‘more complete picture of the Ligurian mycological flora and the drafting of a national check-list.
